Hi fellow Opponauts,

I have 2 things to cover in this post. One is a request for guidance for something totally non-auto related and one is related to questions on a bike.

1. My very close friend is going to get married in a week in New York, and since I and all of us close friends won't be able to attend his wedding (I live in India), we wish to gift the couple something special. I don't have any clue of the NY scene. I am looking for some guidance as to is there something which is truly unique to NY wherein couples will enjoy. Some unique dinner location, some unique night-out etc... for couples. Now, I would like to clarify beforehand that my budget is 500$ which can be extended by a 100$ at most (please understand that due to the rupee-dollar conversion, the hit to our pockets is pretty deep here). If there is something which you all think is worthwhile to do, which may require a much more significant budget upgrade, please DO suggest it. If I think that my friends may like it, then I will definitely try and gather more money here.

The couple has no particular interests. Just what most couples like to do. They are working doctors in NY, and since they are at a very early stage of their career, tend to be pretty busy. The guy is a food freak. Otherwise, there is nothing really to know about them.

Also, I have searched the net on this issue, and I have shortlisted 2 things for now: a private dinner and a cruise. This is the best I could do. However, I suspect, there is a lot more to NY. If you don't know much on this subject, but you know someone OR some site where I can find my answers, I would be very grateful if you can guide me to it. To those who are wondering why I am posting this on Oppo, I am also hoping someone here can ask Jalopnik staff (which is headquartered in NY) and guide me.

OK, now to the second part:

2. I just purchased a motorcycle here in India(or what you all would call as mopeds; but here they are considered as motorcycles), and I have just compiled a review of the same. My first question:

- Is anyone here interested in a review of the same (I know this is a predominantly car community)? If YES, then I would be very happy to share a small insight into a very fascinating world of motorcycles/mopeds here.

- IF the answer to above question is YES then: Apart from the usual thing like buying experience, and riding etc., what all would you like to know specifically? I have already compiled my review (only pics are remaining).

I would be very very VERY grateful if anyone can help me out here OR atleast guide me where to find my answers to the first point. Internet search hasn't really provided any satisfaction till now, and I am pretty sure there is something in my search that I am doing wrong. Plus, I don't have any contacts whatsoever in NY specifically.

If anyone here thinks that this post is irrelevant on Oppo, kindly delete it, and I apologize in advance for the inconvenience.

Thank you all in advance:)

Post should be fine! We like motorcycles also!

Are you looking for more of a gift gift, or an experience type thing for them?

Unfortunately, I can't offer any advice for a gift as I'm sort of out of ideas for folks I need to buy for, too...

But as for the bike? Yes - please post. The only Indian bikes I know of are Royal Enfield and Hero (and that only because of Erik Buell Racing). I know that the rest of the world views a 250cc as a monster, while in the US, it's considered a "starter" bike....

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. The review is compiled, but I will have to add some history into it, since that's where the real charm is. I will have it put up within a week of new year starting.

Hero is the world's biggest motorcycle manufacturer (by volumes), and is indeed very popular here. Royal enfield, well, my knowledge is very limited on those bikes.

Let me know if you do find out something about my friends.

Thank you.

I am open to both, but an experience will be preferable.
